Nazlı Can graduated from the Faculty of Law at Istanbul Bilgi University in 2003. After working at several law firms during the early years of her career, she established her own law firm in 2008. In the same year, she applied to the Istanbul Bar Association to establish Türkiye’s first Aviation and Space Law Commission. She is also a co-founder of the Space Mining Working Group and the Association of Space Technologies and Education, and a member of the International Institute of Space Law (IISL).
Attorney Can completed her LL.M. studies at the International Institute of Air and Space Law at Leiden University in the Netherlands, graduating in 2011 with a thesis titled “A Legal Examination of Aircraft Accidents: A Comparative Study with Turkish Legislation” . Throughout her professional career, she has provided legal services in matters related to aircraft accidents both in Türkiye and abroad.
In addition to her work in aviation and space law, she provides legal services in several other fields, including chemicals regulations, nuclear law, commercial law, labor law, competition law, telecommunications law, and contract law. Since 2011, she has been teaching aviation and space law at Istanbul Technical University(ITU)’s Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and in addition to ITU, she has taught aviation and space law at numerous other institutions and organizations. She has also served for many years as a special session co-chair at the International Conference on Recent Advances in Air and Space Technologies (RAST).
Attorney Can has conducted studies on a wide range of topics, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), military activities in outer space, space mining, global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), GNSS cybersecurity, the use of blockchain technologies in aviation and space systems, and humanoid robots in outer space.
